Kingdom Stuff

"In [the book of] Daniel...the kingdom of God is understood as the sphere of divine authority. This kingdom is eschatological in that it brings to an end all previous human kingdoms and it is eternal in that it will never end. It constitutes the sphere into which God invites humans to enter and which God imposes upon the world, regardless of both human response and Satanic opposition to it."

-Craig Evans; quoted by Keith Mathison in "Age to Age: The Unfolding of Biblical Eschatology."

The idea of God imposing is totally unmodern. I like it.
