Working Me Over.

I've been reading This Momentary Marriage by John Piper--and I'm blown away. Piper's book is the best book on the theology of marriage (it's practical too, but isn't all good theology practical?) that I've ever seen. I've read quite a few of them and this one has just gripped me like nothing I've seen. So much so, that I posted this tweet:

I felt like sharing this thought because the Spirit was working me over on the gospel and how it works not just individually, but in all relationships. I am conscience of the fact that I'm a wretched person (Jeremiah 17:9; cf. Romans 3:23); I'm also aware that God has showered me with grace by saving me. So I wrote an extra part and put it on Facebook to encourage others:

I wrote this extra part about the gospel being meant to change everything because I "know" biblically that this is true--but when I wrote this, the Spirit really convicted me about it and I wanted to share it. Sometimes it is hard to discern just how the gospel is supposed to affect even our relationships, but when we filter it through all that Jesus has done, is doing and will do--along with he himself!--we begin to see just how we are to respond to others...with much grace and much love. Hopefully this encourages you like it did me.
