OK, I'll bite. I'm good at stirring the pot, right, Jason? ;)
Preachers like this one enrage me, and I wish he would resign his pastorate.
Isn't the point of preacher to spur people on to more Christ-likeness? Yet there was NOTHING about this man's message that was redemptive, nothing that was connected to the life, teachings, death or resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Neither President Bush nor President Obama had agendas that could be fully supported by those of us who call ourselves Christ-followers. Both are pro-death in one way or another. Yet both have also done and are doing things we can support. Leadership is always a mixed bag. It is wise to avoid extremism in our reactions.
As the Body of Christ, we are not called to the center, to transformation of systems or governments. We are called to the margins... right where Jesus moved and worked... he did not attempt to overthrow Rome, remember? This man needs to read the book of Luke and then Matthew 5-7.
One more rant before I sign off and let the sparks fly--- people like this preacher make me ashamed to be in any way associated with American Christianity. While he prays for violence to be done to his enemies, I will pray that LOVE overwhelms all of us so that we repent and start acting more like our Lord.
