Thinking today...

After preaching yesterday, I found myself seriously thinking about the Gospel in a more tangible way. I thought to myself: what does the gospel look like when it is fleshed out? More specifically, what does it mean to incarnate ('flesh out') the gospel in a real way with real results? Now I don't want to be totally pragmatic about; rather, organic and embryonic. We don't have to change the Gospel, but live it. We don't have to only think about the Gospel (we should often-but take it further), but preach it. Yes we ought to feed the poor and "do" social justice (I call it social mercy), but we need to do it in a way that honors Christ and keeps Him uplifted and gives Him all the glory. If we don't, then we are simply doing something nice and thus making this world a better place to go to hell from. Which is not nice at all because then we lie to people by not helping them see their sin and see the Savior. Somehow we must jump on board together in our churches and band together to cause another Great Awakening. Time is running out, Christ is coming, but we have the unique commission to spread the Gospel. What a simple thing...yet it is so profound.
